Session Objectives: Understand the following at the conclusion of this session: *The various types of not-for-profit organizations including their ability to receive tax-deductible gifts.
*  The types of potential taxes.
*  The various current and future tax rates.
*  The IRS limitations of tax-deductibility of gifts.
*  Your own organization's compliance to IRS rules relating to the gift acknowledgment process.
*  How to educate board, staff and potential donors on the general tax implications of cash and capital gain property gifts
  

Henderson Mallory Partners is a growing resource development consulting company that provides a broad range of fundraising services to a variety of clients across the United States.  Together, Bitsy Henderson and Sid Mallory combine 40 years’ experience with fresh approaches to planning, management and campaign counsel for non-profit clients ranging from mature development offices to start up fundraising programs. 

Sid Mallory, MBA, FAHP, Principal, is an accountant by training.  For over 20 years, he has applied his financial knowledge and process skills to fundraising.  Sid served as Director of University Based Programs for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) and chaired AHP’s Institute for Philanthropy held annually at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he continues as faculty in the Major and Planned Giving Tracks. In addition, for over a decade, he has served as Planned Giving Track Dean for Madison Down Under held annually in Adelaide, South Australia.  Sid is the recipient of the 2010 AHP Si Seymour Award which recognizes distinguished   leadership in the development profession and is the highest honor for professionals in healthcare philanthropy.  He is a frequent presenter for regional and international fundraising conferences.

With a proven record of fundraising success, Sid has managed a variety of arts, educational, and healthcare fundraising programs with emphasis on major gifts, broad-based capital campaigns, and planned giving programs. His ability to work with major philanthropists across the country has resulted in over $700 million in philanthropy for the organizations he has represented.

Most recently Sid served as Executive Vice President for Philanthropy and Community Benefit at Allina Health System in Minneapolis.  In this capacity he initiated a successful collaborative and coordinated model of healthcare system philanthropy across all twelve Allina fundraising entities and tripled the total philanthropy for the system over a three-year period. 

 

Sid received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from Sam Houston State University.  He has achieved Fellows status in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and is an honorary member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia.
